Vegetarian GM Diet

Ok, I have few extra pounds but I was never much conscious about that. I admit that my jeans size increased by 2 sizes since my high school days but I always felt comfortable in my own skin. I never worried because I did not care about what people might say or what they might see and I still don't to a certain level. My family's views are completely different than mine though. It was usually my sister who would start the 'you are fat' argument by saying "this dress doesn't suit you since you are ........" I always ignored it. Then there were my relatives, the people who are critical of everything you do! Anyway many of them suggested I loose weight but I still did not budge from my comfort zone.

Then one day, I was looking at my jeans just before wearing it. And I was scared!, really scared that I may not fit in this jeans and then have to jump to the next size. I felt out of control of the situation, what if my jeans size went on increasing like this? I realized I have to do something about it. But which course do I chose? the crash diets? or the aerobics? or just a jog in the park? I do not want to spend much money on this, so I throw away the aerobics choice out the window. Left with crash diet and jogging, I decided I will give myself a head start through a short diet combine it with jogging for longer effects and see how it goes.

I found GM diet on the internet. I must say that GM diet sounds very lucrative since its short and sweet. Only 7 days plan and you are not starving until death. On top of that I read many reviews about people loosing as much as 5 kilos in a week! That sounds incredible and scary at the same time. Scary because I am skeptical about losing weight so fast and then regaining double weight once its over. So I had doubts whether this will work or not. On giving few more thoughts about it, I think GM diet acts like a cleansing regime for our body. You will know this if you have ever attended a Ayurveda spa or weight loss clinic like me. They follow similar kind of diet regime. Once I realized this my course was set. I decided I will follow the diet combining it with jogging and once I complete the 7 day diet I will continue with jogging to lose more weight or maintain it.

So my recipes page is halted right now but I am making a mental list of what to whip up the day I finish this diet course. Can't wait!!!
Here is the break down of each day about what I do and how I feel.

Day 1: The all fruits day was yesterday. Successfully completed the day one. yay.. Though by the end of the day I was sick of sweet taste. I think I drank 14 glasses of water, I lost track after 10. As for my jogging regime, I could do 2 and half rounds. To begin with my weight is 66.3 kilos. I do not weigh myself each day like other people do but I will post my results at the end of day 7. It was a bit difficult to contain the feeling of eating normal food specially when my family was having Daal Makhani and Dosa and...you get my point right? And I would like to mention that I felt little bit of sluggish at the end of the day.

Day 2: The all veggies day and is today. I feel completely normal. No sign of any sluggishness. In fact I could do almost 4 rounds of jogging today and did not feel overly out of breath like the first day. That's an improvement. I consumed raw vegetables throughout the day but switched to boiled veggies for dinner because I was tempted my the heavenly smell of Pulav. Sigh!! Nonetheless I completed day 2 without breaking the norm.

Day 3: The fruits and veggies day. My fruits part included only melons today and consumed boiled veggies throughout the day. I did experience lack of energy while jogging but as I started consuming fruits I energy level was back to normal. Drank 13-14 glasses of water. I was able to carry out my normal activities for the most part.

Day 4: The banana shakes and soup day. Let me tell you, you won't like this soup if you consume it before the diet but once you are following the diet you are going to love this. I am one of those people who love both milk and bananas, so banana shake was a treat for me. Both together made my day breeze by. The wonder soup recipe is flexible so you can use any vegetables that you like. I used the following recipe.

3 large onions
2 sweet peppers
1 carrot
1 radish
1 small bowl of peas
few radish leaves
few cloves of garlic
oregano
a table spoon of pepper powder
3 table spoon of tomato soup powder (instead of 3 envelopes of onion soup mix as stated in the standard wonder soup recipe)

First I fried all the veggies on a non-stick pan to bring out all the flavors. Then I pressure cooked all the ingredients together. That's it. You have a delicious soup.

Day 5: The beef it up day. The non-vegetarian version of the diet calls for beef recipes for today. The main reason behind using beef is to provide the proteins. So use anything today that gives you a lot of proteins. I had one phulka along with a small bowl of cooked daal for each of my meals and drank the soup for in-between meal hunger pangs. As advised drank a little more than 13 glasses of water to get rid of the uric acid. And lets not forget the 6 tomatoes. Honestly, I felt like I am already out of the diet today but everything I consumed was oil free. The daal I made is very simple but it never felt any less than ordinary daal that is made with oil seasoning. You can use my oil free recipe but if you feel you wont like it, you can use oil seasoning but in negligible amount.

Daal recipe
your choice of daal (half a cup is enough to last for the whole day)
one tomato
salt
pepper

Cook the daal and tomato together in a pressure cooker. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Day 6: is similar to day 5 but you can have more vegetables today if you want but no potatoes a
or tomatoes. So I did the same. Every one in my family has come to like the soup so I prepare a little extra than required. I did not do my usual workout today.

Day 7: Rice day. We can have a small cup of rice for each meal along with all the fruits and vegetables. Note that fruit juices are allowed today but please note this caution: Avoid acidic juices like orange juice as it may create acidity or gastric problem. I could not do my usual workout for today either (but I think made up for that part by standing in the sun all day). And this is the final day of the course cannot wait to see the results.

I went to watch the aero show here in Bengaluru. It was incredible. I got to see my favorite team Red Bulls again. :)

RESULT: I checked my weight in the morning and I have lost 3 kgs...yay... :D I will continue this diet after a weeks gap but before that I am looking forward to have some idli dosas and chicken legs too.. :D

Happy and safe dieting.
